Point/ Award Earning Opportunities

The Saddle Log, Driver and Disabled Rider/Driver Programs are a great way for you to earn awards for the time you spend with your horse(s). Created for adults and youths, these programs recognize the personal achievements and benefits of riding or driving on a routine basis. Whether you participate in trail rides, train and compete in shows, ride in parades, perform ranch work, participate in Therapy Riding, or enjoy pleasure riding/driving, each hour will count toward your achievement record and enable you to receive recognition and awards from the IRFC.

How to qualify:

You must be a current IRFC member. There are no restrictions as to age, registration type or ownership of the horse or Equine.

How to enroll: There is an enrollment section on the IRFC membership application, or you may use the Rider/Driver Log enrollment form, if you wish to enroll in the program after you have become a member.

Send the completed Saddle Log - Disabled Rider/Driver Application form and enrollment fee to the IRFC office.

• For Adults – There is a $15 enrollment fee that enables adults to participate (from the date of enrolment through October 31st of that same yr.) for the year end awards. Since our Membership fees are due by March 1st of each year and we would like to give awards at the end of each year, the riding/driving logs must be completed for the Months of January through  October and received by IRFC NO LATER than November 15th of each year, in order to be considered for yr end awards.
• NO EXCEPTIONS! 

  PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST BE A PAID MEMBER AND HAVE PAID YOUR ENROLLMENT FEE, FOR THE DATES YOU LOG HOURS, OR THEY WILL NOT COUNT.  ALL FEES ARE CONSIDERED PAID AS OF THE DATE THEY ARE RECEIVED BY IRFC, NOT THE DATE OF POSTMARK OR DATE ON CHECK OR DTE PAID TO PAY-PAL. YOU WILL RECEIVE A MEMBESHIP CARD AND STATEMENT WHICH WILL HAVE YOUR MEMBERSHIP RECORDED DATE ON IT, THIS IS THE DATE IRFC WILL GO BY.

• For Youth – There is a $10 enrollment fee that enables youth to participate (from the date of enrollment through October 31st of that same yr.for the year end awards. Since our Membership fees are due by March 1st of each year and we would like to give awards at the end of each year, the riding/driving logs must be completed for the Months of January through the Month of October and received by IRFC NO LATER than November 15th of each year, in order to be considered for yr. end awards.

• Participants may use multiple horses/ Equines and do not need to own the horses used in the program.

• Logged hours must be recorded on Official forms available from the IRFC website. These recorded hours must be signed by you, stating the record is true, and your signature witnessed by an adult, in order to be official. 

Awards in the Saddle Log – Disabled Rider/Driver Programs:

• You will receive an official  IRFC Saddle Log Program Patch upon enrollment.

• Saddle Log riders and drivers receive Chevron Bars upon completion of 100, 200, 500, 1000 and each 1000-hour plateau thereafter for hours ridden.

• Disabled Drivers / Riders will be awarded Chevron Bars upon completion of  25, 50, 75, 100, 200, 500 and each 500-hour plateau thereafter.
• Disabled Non-Riders- This is limited to those members who, due to a disability, can not ride or Drive, their riding/ driving time is limited by their disability, but who still have hands on work time with a horse or other equine. They will be awarded Chevron bars upon completion or 25, 50, 75, 100, 200, 500 and each 500- hour plateau thereafter for each hour they spend exercising their horse. This is the actual act of working your horse in the roundpen or other exercise that requires the Non-Rider to in some manner physically spend this time with their animal. • Each yr. IRFC will recognize the person(s) who log the most hours in each category, and other awards as determined by IRFC.
